Bio of Dr. Larry Brown

Received diplomas of Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California.

1975 to 1981 : Practiced as a pediatric dentist and as a general dentist in Switzerland where he became familiar with the use of “Orthodontic Removable Functional Appliances” and where he learned the French language.

1981 to 1983 : Received his certificate for completing the 2 year Straight Wire Orthodontic Course in San Diego, California.

1981 to 1998 : Private group practice in San Diego, California. Dr. Brown has gained vast clinical and practical experience in Esthetic Dentistry: that is combining Straight Wire Appliance (SWA) orthodontics, porcelain bonded veneers and crowns, composite restorations and tooth whitening.

1998 to 2011 : practice exclusively orthodontics, and private orthodontic consultations with doctors in their offices in various European contries.

1999 to 2000 : Lectures on “Esthetic Dentistry” (combining orthodontics, porcelain bonded veneers and crowns, composite restorations and tooth whitening for beautiful treatment results) in 36 different cities in 9 different European Countries (Belgium, France, Holland, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Austria, Hungary). These lectures were attended by over 2500 doctors

1998 to 2011 : “Orthodontic Seminars of California, Dr Larry Brown” : This is an Orthodontic Training Progam that is presented as a series of orthodontic courses over a 12 month period.

Over 1500 dentists from Belgium, Holland, France, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Morocco, Germany, Poland, England, Ukraine, Tunisia and Romania have followed this series of courses.

Lectures are presented in English or in French.

These courses in Belgium are accredited by the Belgian Dental Association (VVT)

2004 : Presented a 2-day lecture for the Belgian Dental Society (VVT) on “Mixed Dentition and Adolescent Orthodontic Treatment using the SWA”. This course is accredited by the Belgian Dental Association (VVT)

Published a three-part article on “The Straight Wire Appliance” in Belgium. This was published in French in “Le Journal du Dentist” and in Flemish in “Tandartsenkrant”

2005 : Presented two separate 2-day lectures to the French and Flemish dental communities on “The Esthetic Diagnosis” and “The Use of the SWA as a Fixed Functional Appliance” . This course is accredited by the Belgian Dental Association (VVT)

2001 to 2011 : Organizer/moderator of the “Advanced Seminars” and the “Study Clubs of Dr Larry Brown” (a series of various “advanced orthodontic subjects”.

The study clubs also serve as a “Peer Review” system where the participating dentists can present their cases for evaluation by group discussion.

2006 : Publication of a Case Study using The Straight Wire Appliance and its auxiliaries. This publication, using text and photos, explained the diagnosis, biomechanics and mechanical treatment plan of a Mixed-dentition case. This was published in Belgium in French in “Le Journal du Dentist” and in Flemish in “Tandartsenkrant”.

2007 : Publication on: “The Use of the Straight Wire Appliance in the Treatment of Extraction Cases”. The goal of this article was to demonstrate how orthodontists, even using extraction treatment, can create harmonious facial esthetics and beautiful smile for the patient as well as obtain an optimal occlusion. This was published in French in “Le Journal du Dentist” and in Flemish in “Tandartsenkrant”

2007 : Lecture in Kiev, Ukraine to 100 orthodontists on “The Esthetic Diagnosis” and “The Use of the SWA as a Fixed Functional Appliance”.

Lecture in Casablanca, Morocco to 150 members of the Orthodontic Association of Morocco on “The Use of the SWA as a Fixed Functional Appliance”

2008 : Lecture “The Use of the Heat Activated NiTi Transpalatal Expander in Mixed Dentition and Adolescent Cases” in Tangier, Morocco at the annual meeting of the members of the Orthodontic Association of Morocco

2009 : Publication: “The Orthodontic Treatment of CLIII Malocclusions using the Straight Wire Appliance – Mixed dentition and Adolescent Treatment”. This was published in French in “Le Journal du Dentist” and in Flemish in “Tandartsenkrant”

2010 : Publication: “Orthodontic Extraction and Surgical Treatment of CLIII Malocclusions using the Straight Wire Appliance”. Published in The Dental News in Belgium.
